A.M. Best Rates Woman's Life® "Excellent"

PORT HURON, MI – Some of the best life insurance and annuity products available have been offered in Port Huron, Michigan since 1892.

A.M. Best, a company that rates insurance companies based on financial strength and ability to meet ongoing obligations to policyholders, affirmed Woman’s Life Insurance Society® as “A-” (Excellent) in its March 2002 report. A.M. Best reports are released annually.

In addition to citing the Society’s strong capitalization and refocused distribution system, A.M. Best cited in its report the Society’s “established presence of over a century as the provider of financial security to women and their families through fraternal benefits and insurance programs” as a significant reason for its favorable rating rationale.

“This rating reflects our ability to manage our investments with skill, administer our assets through prudent stewardship, and conduct our internal affairs with care,” said National President Janice Whipple.

Women’s Life is a fraternal organization that has been focused on the financial needs of women for well over a century. It was founded by a Capac, MI schoolteacher, Bina M. West, when very few women had access to life insurance or any forms of financial independence. West became determined to enable women to obtain life insurance after two of her brightest pupils were forced to abandon their educations following the death of their mother.

Today, Woman’s Life® is 60,000 members strong with local chapters across the United States, serving communities through social events, community service activities, educational programs and leadership programs. Through grassroots efforts, local chapters have put millions of fundraising dollars back into their communities.
