A.M. Best Rates Woman's Life® "Excellent"
- Port Huron, Michigan

A.M. Best Co. re-affirmed the A - (Excellent) rating of Woman's Life Insurance Society®, providing yet another industry recognition of the Society's long-standing financial strength. The rating became effective April 18, 2001.

According to Best, the rating reflects the Society's strong fraternal presence in its core women's market, the strong capital position and the improved premium trends." Best also cites the organization's growth and its expectations of positive results from new marketing inititatives.

"We are delighted with the rating," said Janice Whipple, national president and chairman of the board for Woman's Life® "It is always nice to receive confirmation of your financial strength from such a prestigious organization as A.M. Best. Woman's Life has a century-long tradition of financial strength - and that's something women and their families can bank on - now and into the future."

"When you've focused your entire existence for 109 years on the unique needs of women and their families, you understand that market like no one else can," Whipple explained. "Everything we do reflects that very deep understanding and commitment."

Woman''s Life made significant strides in its market penetration in 2000, increasing its net first-year life premiums by 26 percent over 1999, and increasing insurance in force by $19 million. Product development in 2000 focused on meeting the needs of women and their families and resulted in the introduction of a new universal life plan with preferred rates on January 1,2001, and paved the way for additional new products to be unveiled in 2001.

Whipple concluded, "The A- (excellent) affirmation is confirmation that Woman's Life is a very solid, stable financial organization that can and will make good on its commitments, financial or otherwise. That should provide a measure of comfort to members and prospects alike."

Woman's Life Insurance Society is a not-for-profit fraternal benefit society created over a century ago to help women protect themselves and their families from the unexpected and unplanned through affordable family life insurance and annuity products. Fraternal benefits, such as scholarship programs, cancer and disaster benefits, education and other individually designed benefits further protect families from unplanned or extraordinary financial burdens. And, through local chapters, members participate in service projects, fundraising and social events as well as educational and leadership programs.

The Woman's Life Insurance Society® Home Office is located in Port Huron, Michigan. Since its founding in 1892, Woman's Life® has contributed millions of dollars in matching funds to augment the volunteer efforts of its local units throughout the United States and Canada. In 2000, that amounted to $202,698 raised and donated to people in need and other charitable organizations. That same year, members conducted more than 67,000 acts of community service and donated nearly a quarter of a million volunteer service hours. If valued at today's minimum wage rate, the many volunteer service hours donated by Woman's Life members would be equal to another million dollars.
