HURRICANE VICTIMS
PORT HURON, Mich. -- More than $22,000 was raised nationwide this fall to aid victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita by members of Woman’s Life Insurance Society. The money raised was donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Fund, the Salvation Army and the New Orleans Red Cross Branch.
Residents of the Blue Water Area also contributed to the Society’s matching fund program.
“I am proud of our members across the country, and pleased with the response from our local community,” said Janice Whipple, national president of Woman’s Life. “These monies will certainly help as the citizens in the affected communities begin the task of rebuilding their lives.”
Whipple recently presented checks to Capt. Timothy P. Meyer of the Salvation Army, and Jeff Hedwim of the American Red Cross.
Woman’s Life is a non-profit fraternal benefit society based in Port Huron offering life insurance, annuities and IRAs to its members nationwide, as well as opportunities for becoming involved in volunteer and fund raising projects in their home communities and across the nation.
