We believe the basic ability to read is fundamental to a woman's ability to take control of her financial future. Unfortunately, 65% of the 90 million illiterate Americans are women. We're committed to changing that and creating opportunities for a better tomorrow. Since 1998, Woman's Life members have donated over $146,600 dollars toward improving family literacy. Former first lady Barbara Bush has applauded us in our commitment to literacy, stating, "Woman's Life obviously recognizes how important literacy is to the betterment of family, to the community in general, and to the country."
